We have a fleet of club-owned boats.  We would like to sanitize them for the CV19 virus in-between each use.  We appreciate ideas!

Apparently AeroKleen ACS is very effective.

This disinfectant cleaner is used on aircraft but has applications for many industries and environments – it is not classed as hazardous. They have recently had this tested specifically for use in killing coronavirus. They have efficacy and residual test reports to confirm that it kills the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus. The test work was carried out by a virology lab that is fully approved under the terms of the European Biocidal Products Regulation.

They have looked at many competitors’ products on the market that claim bactericidal/viricidal data, but when you look at their data in detail, they cover a number of bacteria or viruses, but not specifically COVID-19.

They are primarily supplying this product for disinfecting all passenger contact surfaces on aircraft and have interest from train and bus operators – also bus/train station infrastructure etc. They also have interest from a large UK supermarket chain. The product is also being used for disinfecting the interiors of offices through fogging equipment plus distribution centres for companies supplying mail order goods etc.

Both easyJet and Ryanair specify Aerokleen ACS for disinfecting their aircraft because of the evidence it kills COVID-19.

This product is normally sold in concentrated form but they have modified to supply in 750ml trigger sprayers as well as in wipe form (100 / 200 wipes per tub).

The technical file shows the residual activity of Aerokleen ACS. The report shows that if the product is left after application, not rinsed off and left to dry, it will still kill coronavirus, showing a 1.5 log reduction after only 5 minutes. In plain English, this means that if an infected person touches a treated surface, 97% of the deposited virus will be killed within 5 minutes. Or, to put it another way, the use of Aerokleen ACS leaves a residue that is 30 times more effective than using a disinfectant with no residual activity. (Disinfectants like bleach and alcohol leave no residual activity.)

If you want a punchline… the technical report states; “This product therefore is effective against all enveloped viruses as defined in EN 14476:2013 + A2:2019 Annex A*. This therefore includes all coronaviruses and SARS‐CoV‐2.
