Sailing Event Volunteer Database
Published 16:58 on 22 Jan 2021
Following the launch of the Restart SailingCalendar which enables all clubs, class associations and event organisers to list and promote their Open, Regional, National and International events, we are now introducing the Sailing Event Volunteer database.
Finding Volunteers to help run larger Events
It is not uncommon for clubs and classes to find they are short of a volunteer with particular skills and/or experience to enable them to deliver their larger events. This could be a Judge, Race officer, Mark layer, Scorer, Safety Boat Driver or any other role you need help with. When you list your events in the Sailing Calendar you can also add your volunteer requirements and these opportunities are then promoted to the Volunteer database.
Volunteers looking for opportunities
There are many volunteers who are ready and willing to help out with sailing events, gain more experience, develop their skills and acquire or maintain qualifications. The endeavour of the Restart Sailing Event Volunteer database is to match these volunteers with appropriate opportunities.
Volunteers can register and upload their details and qualifications to the Restart Sailing Events Volunteer database.
Clubs, Class Associations and Event organisers can specify their needs through the calendar. Volunteers can then register their interest in any Opportunities that match their skills, qualifications and experience.
Getting Ready to Restart Sailing
We are, once again, all in lockdown and some events are being cancelled or postponed but as we look ahead and prepare for what will likely be a busy season, now is the time for all clubs and classes to identify where they have a lack of volunteers within the club pool and put those opportunities on the calendar.
Experienced sailing officials are invited to register and upload their qualifications.
We can at least look forward to the future, and restart sailing as quickly as legislation and guidance allow.
