#RestartSailing Data Exchange Schema

753767 orig

The #RestartSailing Group has seen an increasing level of collaboration, with the sailing community coming together to help get through the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic and adapt to what is likely to be a medium to long term situation.

The #RestartSailing Technology Task Group has now held two meetings and several key collaborations between different suppliers are already emerging. It has been agreed that, to hasten this process, a formal #RestartSailing Data Exchange Schema is required and a sub group has been established to oversee its implementation and ongoing maintenance. The aim will be that data can be easily, securely and safely exchanged between different sailing software solutions. For clubs and classes this will mean they can choose to use solutions from different providers and benefit from cross package integration. For example passing entry data to a GPS tracking system and then passing the automated race finish times to a scoring package, with the option for all three systems provided by three different suppliers.

The group has already been working with the RYA to produce a standardised class id schema, meaning all software providers use the same naming convention when describing dinghy classes, updating PY numbers and submitting results to PY online.
